On 9 April 2026, we hosted a free webinar with the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) which brought together members of the CGI-Clinics project team to share the latest developments around the Cancer Genome Interpreter (CGI) platform and its role in precision oncology.
Our speakers, Dr. Nuria López-Bigas (CGI-Clinics Project Coordinator, IRB Barcelona, Spain), Dr. Santiago Demajo (CGI-Clinics Scientific Coordinator, IRB Barcelona, Spain), and Dr. Loic Verlingue (Oncologist and Cancer Researcher, Centre Léon Bérard, Lyon, France), walked attendees through the full landscape of CGI, from the science underpinning our automatic learning platform and data-driven approach to mutation interpretation, to the capabilities of our newly enhanced tool, including Clinical Reporting and virtual Molecular Tumour Boards (vMTB). Dr. Verlingue also shared a real-world example of CGI implementation in clinical practice at the Centre Léon Bérard, offering a valuable perspective on how our platform is making an impact.
The webinar also provided an opportunity to learn how to get involved with the CGI-Clinics community:
- Use the Cancer Genome Interpreter for research: To learn more about the CGI Platform, including how to access CGI Open, the open version of the platform for research use, and how to request access to CGI Teams, click here: https://www.cgiclinics.eu/cancer-genome-interpreter/
- Join CGI-Clinics: CGI-Clinics is actively seeking for 20 EU hospitals to join the network. Learn about CGI-Clinics, the community-driven project behind the tool: https://www.cgiclinics.eu/. You can also sign up for email updates about the project.
- Apply for sequencing through CGI-500genomes: We’re sequencing 500 tumour genomes to build a shared database aiming to advance cancer research. Your institution can propose a clinically relevant cohort and its rationale for whole genome/exome sequencing. The project will cover the costs of sequencing – plus full analysis, together with mutation interpretation via our CGI platform. See guide for applicants and Apply by 21 May 2026: https://www.cgiclinics.eu/cgi-500genomes
